Please note: LIEC has decided that year end awards will be based on scores from 2 shows (with different judges) due to the reduced number of shows held for 2017. Previously, members needed 3 scores from different judges to qualify for year end awards.

To all LIEC members:
There has been a change in the lungeing protocol at LIEC schooling shows. In the past, riders who needed to lunge their horses at the show would lunge in the grass field or the indoor arena if it was not being used. The Fairgrounds Board have recently started to stringently enforce rental agreements at the grounds. We have been advised that we are not to allow horses at our shows to enter any areas that have not been specifically rented by our group for the day, and that there is to be no lunging whatsoever on the large hunter jumper grass field adjacent to the sand ring. In response to the new Fairground policy, the LIEC Board has introduced new arrangements to accommodate riders who wish to lunge their horses at a schooling show.

In addition to the sand competition/warmup ring LIEC will rent the indoor arena on show days to be used as a designated lungeing area. A maximum of two horses may lunge in the arena at one time and a time limit of 20 minutes per horse will be enforced if there is a queue for lungeing. To help offset the additional costs the club will incur by renting the arena a lunging fee of $40 per entry will be charged to people wishing to lunge their horse. This fee must be pre-paid before taking your horse to the indoor arena. The lungeing area will be monitored and unauthorized lungeing (i.e. fee not paid) will result in elimination from the show and a forfeit of your entry fees. The option of adding the lungeing fee to your entries will be included on the entry form.

Vancouver Island Dressage Series

The Equinety Vancouver Island Dressage Series is a year-end awards program created to encourage attendance at local dressage shows in order to support local clubs and volunteers. As well, the Series provides Island riders at all levels with attainable goals that will hold distinction in the Island sport community without having the requirement and high expense of leaving the Island.

All that is required from the riders is that they attend three shows across the Island with two of the shows located in different regions (north Island, mid Island and south Island). Eligible shows are Horse Council BC recognised shows and Equine Canada bronze and gold shows. All of the details are listed on LHEM's website http://www.lhequestrianmanagement.com There will be great prizes!

Thank you to our title sponsor Equinety Horse Products, the world's #1 horse supplement and the preferred horse supplement of Equine Canada!
